haha you are so right about how they put a limit on the diets...about two years my aunt wanted to lose 35 lbs. She went on the weight watchers diet, but they said the max she will lose is 20 lbs, so she had to go on the slim fast program. She later found out that slim fast only loses 10 pounds so she had to find a third diet program for the other 5 lbs...so she was on three different diet programs all at the same time...it was crazy...she said with all these programs she can't eat real food anymore.. she has been drinking the different shakes for all 3 meals...she replaced all her forks, knifes, spoons, dishes, pots, and pans with cups..all she has is cups...she even sold her teeth on ebay becouse you don't need teeth when drinking diet shakes...don't tell her I said so, but I don't notice a difference in her weight :(

I don't understand the obesity problem with kids that I hear about...I don't see huge fat kids everywhere I go. Isn't the basis of every diet now to basically kill one main food group out of your diet, thus cutting the amount of food you eat in half? I lost 30 pounds in 2 months on the "no lunch, no breakfast, small dinner, workout it off afterwards" diet. Sure, it almost drove me insane, and I still felt fat afterwards...but hey, I was just trying to feel American by dieting.

their is so much i could say about this topic as we studied it in Women Studies 100. yes, i took it and i was great. who wouldn't want to be in an easy class surrounded by hot girls? though the teacher did call me Danielle for the first 4 classes. anyway, bottom line is, the media is controlling us by setting expectations that only 3% of the population can obtain on a healthy diet. they make women feel bad about themselves by saying superthin blode, blue eyed 20 something chick is beauty. so then people want to obtain this and thus the diet plans and the money making. it only feeds the idea of the "ideal" woman. its an evil money making game the media plays. so i have the "eat healthy foods and if you feel like having some cake and cookies go ahead" diet with some exercise. you dont have to run everyday, just make sure you dont sit on you ass all day. pff... and they laughed at me for taking WS100... they wanted to join after i told them about my classmates. in the end, we must be happy with ourselves. though medication can really mess with weight :/ What are we talking about? HI!

My diet is made up only of drinking the low calorie/low carb beers that they are advertising now. Who knew that the difference between Coors Light and Miller Lite is just 1.8 carbohydrate grams, which can be burned off doing a slow dance? Pass me a beer! I feel thinner already!

I don't really blame the media for society's problem in this case overweight and the pressure to be skinny. I am a strong believe that media is just a reflection of society, not the other way around. The media delievers want people want. In the old days 'big boned' women were attrative becouse it showed they would be good women to carry a child. If Old Navy and Gap were around during those days, they would have 'big boned' women in their ads...skinny women whouldn't sell...In order to change these current ads, society has to change, you have protest, don't buy their product. Companies will listen when they aren't selling their product...They won't stop until that happens....society has to change, people have to change...The ads will follow becouse they are simply a reflection of what we want

You know what, youre all right in your own ways. North Americans are too fat because we cant say no when presented with unhealthy yet delicious food choices. We cant say no to a bargain when supersizing something is a better monetary deal than just a normal portion. It is faster and more efficient to drive to the store to pick up that bag of chips than walk the two blocks. Being big-boned is no reason for being fat, and being skinny is not healthy either. A diet which will cause the dieter to lose weight involves effort, self-denial and, yes, hunger, which you have to learn to deal with. The easiest way is to keep yourself busy in a non-food environment and make every single god-damned calorie that you do consume count towards your daily nutritional ideal. To lose weight you must take in less than you put out, and youre the only one who can do it, not Nutraslim or Slimfast or Weight Watchers or Atkins. You, baby!
